India has a rich cultural heritage of about five thousand years old. India's cultural heritage is a source of unity and strength but preserving it in a face of modernization is a big challenge. Ahmadabad was the first Indian city that was declared as world heritage city by UNESCO.
Heritage is something acquired from our past or ancestors. It can be in the form of a object, a place, or a practice. Heritage comprises of a lot of things but it's more about cultural roots and most importantly our cultural teaching and ethos.
Our nation, India is a land of diversity where people come from different backgrounds, caste, religions and share different beliefs. Each community of our country has its own origin, traditions, cultures, geographical entity, etc.

There are more than 43 best world heritage sites in India which are being visited in large numbers through out the year by tourists from all over the world and some of them are viz;

There a many ways to preserve out heritage that includes to educate and raise awareness among the masses about the value of heritage and encourage local support, create legal protection and management practices in place to safeguard heritage in all its forms, engage owners of heritage heritage houses, artists, craftsmen as well as business owners to help in preserving their valuable heritage sites, preservation of natural habitats, conserve physical heritage that include restoration and maintenance of historic buildings, monuments and artworks, preservation of intangible heritage, recognize culinary heritage, foster global collaboration to preserve heritage.
