Budha Amar Nath History  :

Shri Budha Amar Nath Ji " Chattani " is an ancient and unique Shiva Temple located in Rajura Mandi which is nearly 25  kilometers northeast of Poonch Town. The river that flows near the temple is believed that Ravan's grandfather namely Pulasta  Rishi of Srilanka performed his meditation here for a long time because he was a big devotee of Lord Shiva. in this context many references are available in Neelmat Puran about Pulsat Rishi(Saint). Pulsat Rishi was also an artist and sculptor as he carved many images of God.

Therefore the river is called as Pulast River. The original temple has been constructed with one big stone & there is a white Shiv ling made upon the white stone Chakmak inside the temple. The temple has four beautiful doors and many idols are installed inside the premises of the holy temple. It is said that the idols have been collected from the nearby villages in ancient times and installed inside its premises. There are 4 holy springs near the premises of the temple site but nowadays the crystal clear water of three springs has been diverted towards the fourth spring which is located on the southern side of the historical temple.

It is also believed that Pulsat, a great saint, sculptor, and artist meditated at this place with great devotion and he had glimpses of Lord Shiva. Then he made up his mind and constructed this holy temple of Lord Shiva and erected lingam here. He became very popular among the local people here & after his demise, the people converted this small temple into a shrine later on and with the passage of time, it took the name of Shri Budha Amar Nath Ji.

It is also said and believed that Lord Shiva accompanied by Goddess Parvati on his trip to holy Amarnath Kashmir from Kailash had made a halt at Budha Amarnath Ji Raipura Mandi. It is believed that Amar Nath " Chattani" is older than Amarnath Kashmir and the pilgrimage to the Holy Amar Nath Cave of Kashmir remains incomplete without a visit to the place of Shri Budha Amar Nath Ji in Poonch District. Lord Shiva grants wish to everyone that makes a pilgrimage to Shri Budha Amar Nath Ji Chattani in Poonch District.
