1. Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai (Tamil Nadu) :
This Temple situated on the south bank of the river Vaigai in the center of the ancient city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu in India is a famous pilgrimage place and this beautiful temple is famous for its classic architectural style Stupendous structures and carvings. The temples is dedicated to the Goddess Meenakshi and her consort , Sundareshwarar who are the forms of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. This beautiful temple is really a Dravidian architectural wonder and renowned for its gorgeous Gopurans decorated with thousands of bright sculptors.
The History of this temple dates back to the 6th Century BC when it constructed and it was rebuilt in the 16th Century by the Nayak Ruler Vishwanatha Nayakar. The west tower of the temple is the basis for the Tamil Nadu State Emblem. and the temple is a popular tourist destination and is also called as Mathura of the South. The most important festival namely Chithirai is celebrated in April and May with great enthusiasms and fervor. On more important feature of this famous temple is that it was 14 entrances at a height of 45 to 50 meters and it is a very famous temple in Tamil Nadu.
2.Brihadeeswara Temple Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu :
Brihadeeswara Temple also known as a big temple and a UNESCO Heritage Site is quite popular and famous for its grandeur and the precision of its carvings. This Hindu temple is completely dedicated to Lord Shiva which is situated in Thanjavur in the Indian State Tamil Nadu and is the largest Hindu temple in the world. This Temple is also referred to Periya Kovil, Raja Rajeswara Temple among its other names. Kanchipuram Temple is also most beautiful temple in Kanchipuram Tamil Nadu which is actually a home to Myriad ancient temples, each showcasing the stunning Dravidian Architecture. 3. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple Tamil Nadu :
It is a Hindu Temple which is dedicated to Ranganatha ( Lord Vishnu) and his consort Ranganayaki ( a form of Goddess Lakshmi) and this temple is located in Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu in India. This temple is extremely beautiful and scenic located between the rivers Kaveri and Kollidam. The temple is considered best among the largest functioning Hindu Temples in the world and has a unique and significant architecture. The construction of this temple began in 1845 and was completed in 1851 at a cost of 45 lakh rupees and it was built by Radha Krishna and Seth Govindadasa of Chennai.
4. Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Kerala :
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is world wide famous for its beauty, opulent design, wealth and grandeur and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple uniquely showcases a blend of Kerala and Dravidian architectural styles with intricate carvings and is also one of the 108 Sacred Vishnu Temples " Divya Deshams " in India. This famous temple is situated in the East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram , the capital city of State of Kerala in India and a decent crowd of Hindu pilgrims & Tourists is witnessed here and it takes about 90 minutes to get inside the temple complex. Dhoti's are easily available in nearby shops on nominal rates for the pilgrims and visitors.
5. Virupaksha Temple Hampi Karnataka :
This is a UNESCO world heritage site and this temple is nestled amidst the ruins of the ancient Vijaynagara empire in Karnataka. The extremely beautiful temple complex is completely filled with intricate sculptures depicting mythological tales. Huge rush of pilgrims and visitors is witnessed here through out the year. There is other most beautiful and world repute temple called as Chennakesava Temple situated in Belur in Karnataka in India. This temple is quite famous for its intricate carvings, depicting scenes from Hindu Epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata.
