The District Kisthtwar in Jammu Province of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in  India is a far-flung largest and least populous  District in the east corner of  Jammu Province in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is an upheld valley also commonly called as Land of Saffron & Sapphire situated in the lap of the Himalayas. This Valley has been naturally blessed by God with many hidden and explored beautiful Tourist circuits which are quite wonderful,  scenic, and mesmerizing. This District is situated in the lap of mountains of the Great and beautiful Himalayas and possesses delightful beauty covered with snow-capped mountains, alpine meadows, flowing rivulets dense forests, orchards, flora, and fauna and based on the banks' famous river Chenab.

The boundaries of this scenic District touch with Kashmir on its North side, Doda & Himachal Pradesh on its East side as well it touches Ramban District on its western part. As far as the population of this District is concerned people living here belong to different faiths and cultures live here like Pahari, Gujjar, Gaddi, and Kashmiri. The languages spoken by the People here in Kishtwar are Hindi, Urdu, Kishtwari, Pahari, Gogri Balti, and Pahari. 

A large number of Tourists and visitors from different parts of India and abroad have visited this place throughout the years to enjoy its dazzling beauty as well as visit the nearby tourist places in the area to enjoy and spend some time in the lap of mother nature. They return with remarkable memories of green meadows, alpine pastures in high-rising mountains from where glimpses of the neighing of horses, bellowing cattle, and bleating sheep and goats that have ascended from hot plains and remain under the blanket of snow during winters.

Today in this blog we are going to provide our readers with a piece of information and awareness about one such undiscovered wonderful tourist location of District Kishtwar,  called Warwan Valley where tourists visit in large numbers every year from different parts of India and abroad to enjoy its dazzling natural beauty and spend some quality time in the lap of mother nature.


Warwan  Valley is a Himalayan Sub Valley and a Tehsil in District Kishtwar. This valley is quite gorgeously beautiful long but narrow with a width of about 3 kilometers situated at an altitude of about 8500 ft above sea level. It is bordered by the main Kashmir valley in the North and in the East by Ladakh. This valley is a hidden treasure of natural beauty that starts from a village namely Inshan Village and lies about 60 kilometers south of Anantnag Kashmir. 




This wonderful valley consists of 13 villages out of which three villages are situated on the left side on the bank of River Warwan and 10 kilometers on its right side. The undiscovered and naturally beautiful valley of Warwan possesses wonderful waterfalls, huge cedar trees, dense patches of forests,  lush green vast verdant meadows and pastures and is blessed naturally with all types of natural worth seeing delightful places that leave the visitors spellbound as well as its cool breeze offers the soothing touch to the soul and spirit of the visitors. 

The main villages of Warwan Valley are Inshan, chairman, Basmina Margi Gumri, Brayan Afti, Rakinwas Sukhnie, etc. The main crops grown here are Potatoes, trumba, paddy, and wheat. The valley remains mostly covered with vegetation cover and it gives it an unbelievable scenic look. This wonderful valley is rich in medical plants which are used for the treatment of various diseases by the people and this valley in winter witnesses heavy snowfall due to its location at a very high altitude from the sea level. 

Foreign visitors have been trekking in this area for many decades because this amazing destination is full of huge adventurous opportunities and the best ideal time to visit this place is from May to  September. These tourist places remain the main focus of foreign tourists and for the countrymen, being undiscovered and lesser-known tourist places,  full of natural beauty with pleasant weather conditions throughout the year it is considered to be India's Most Equisiute trek and the particular flowering season here is June to July.
 
Warwan Valley Places to Visit : 

The best places to visit in the vicinity of Warwan Valley are Brayan Yaard and Kawyard Margi, and the trekking routes at Warwan Valley are  Naagan Aandaar( six lakes), Kalej Naag Brayan(2 Lakes), Gurwass Mongh and Palwass Gumri and the oldest Trekking way is from Warwan Valley to Paani Khar Kargil.

Warwan Valley  climate :

Warwan Valley an unseen tourist place is situated at an altitude of 8500 ft above sea level and there the weather remains quite cool and pleasant during the summer season. The average temperature during the summer season here remains below 30 degrees Celsius. The summer season is an ideal time to visit here. The winter season here is quite cool and chilly. The warwan Valley remains covered with snow during the winter season. The tourists visit here in the winter season to witness snowfall.

Since this un-discovered (unexplored) delightful valley lacks proper tourist infrastructure still there is a wildlife Hut (Aftee Warwan), one forest Guest House at Guzar Warwan,  Samad Hotel, and a few restaurants Guzar Warwan where tourists and visitors can easily make a night stay. The valleys of Paddar and Warwan, Dachan, and Marwah have been blessed with enchanting and mesmerizing natural Beauties. These valleys possess tremendous Tourism potential for tourists, pilgrims, adventure, and film tourism. These beautiful valleys have lush green forests, humming heights talking to the sky, green meadows, and alpine meadows in high mountains and there is a need to explore & promote these destinations on a high level. 

Warwan Valley Distance  :

The  routes through which tourists and visitors can reach here are  mentioned below: 

One route is from Kishtwar( Jammu Side) to Warwan Valley via Sinthantop and Margan Top. The total distance is 160 kilometers between Kishtwar to Warwan Valley via this route and it takes a period of  6 to 7 hours to reach here. The second route to reach Warwan Valley is from Srinagar the summer capital of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir via Margan Top the total distance is about 110 kilometers (4.30 hrs drive)  from Kokernag(Anantnag), the route via Margan Top to Warwan, the distance is only 60 kilometers (3.30 hrs drive). The road is fully macadamized and the whole drive is hilly and adventurous. Taxis, Sumos, and cabs are easily available from Srinagar, Anantnag, and Kokernag for Wawan Valley.

It is also important to add this information for the knowledge of our esteemed readers and viewers that District Anantnag is the nearest  District to Warwan Valley as it is 45 kilometers away from this undiscovered tourist destination  from Southside and another side that is Northside, it is just 35 kilometers from Sukhnai Warwan  to Holy Amar Nath  Shrine (Pahalgam) and it also connects Zanskar  Kargil because that  is just 70 Kilometers from the last village of Warwan

 Department of Tourism has started organizing the Tourism Festival for the exploration and promotion of this splendid undiscovered valley and has organized the Tourism festival here for its promotion, upliftment, one such program was organized in October 2022 last year to boost, showcase, and promote its natural beauty which is appreciable in all its forms. The role of Azad Nabi in coordinating and mobilizing the event is also worth praising.  

We hope that in the coming years, Warwan Valley, an undiscovered tourist destination becomes one of the must-see tourist destinations of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and expect more such Tourist festivals to be organized on a mass scale to promote it domestically as well as globally along with the creation of adequate tourism infrastructure over there to fascinate the tourists and travelers not only domestically but also globally to explore its hidden natural beauty as well boost tourism sector in Jammu Province which is naturally blessed with countless Hill Stations and tourists spots.
