The Kisthtwar an upheld valley also commonly called as Land of Saffron & Sapphire in the lap of the Himalayas has been gifted by God with many hidden and explored beautiful Tourist circuits which are quite scenic and mesmerizing. It is located in the North-East corner of Jammu Province in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir India this District was carved out in the year 2007 and was given full District status.
The Himalayan District Kisthtwar is based in the lap of mountains of the Great and beautiful Himalayas and its dazzling beauty is covered with snow-capped mountains, alpine meadows, flowing rivulets dense forests, orchards, flora, and fauna. 1. Kishtwar National Park:
It is a beautiful National Park situated at a distance of 40 kilometers from the main town of Kishtwar. This High-altitude National Park is spread over an area of about 2191 sq. km and is at an altitude of 1700 to 4800 meters from the sea level. This National Park is a natural habitat for many species of birds and Mammals. It is bounded by the Riny River on the North side, on the south side by Kibar Nala, and on the easter side, it has a wide divide of the Himalayas and River Marwah on the North side. The most commonly found birds in Kishtwar National Park are the Bearded Vulture, Himalayan snowcock, western Tragopan Himalayan cow, and Koklass.
It was declared a National Park on 4th February 1981 and this High altitude National is rich in flora and fauna. This National Park has many wildlife species like Musk deer, Himalayan bear, Brown Bear, snow leopard, Indian Muntijal, ibex, serow Hangul or Kashmiri Stag wild boar, etc., and thus it is one of the major wildlife places in Jammu and Kashmir. This National Park attracts wildlife lovers from every nook and corner of the country and abroad because it offers great adventurous activities like trekking opportunity that adds a feather to its exploration.
2. Bharnoin :
Bharoin is a hidden and unexplored beautiful picnic destination that is situated about three kilometers away from District Headquarters Kishtwar just below Tourist Village Pochhal. The beautiful location of Bharnoin is located amidst dense forests covered with coniferous trees of kail and Deodar and the picnic spot is an amazing tourist spot as it is quite calm and cool as well free from noise and air pollution.
