Helicopter Route (Lucknow/Nepalgunj) is the most comfortable and quickest option, involving a flight to Nepalgunj, then a helicopter to the border, and the rest by road. Kathmandu Overland Route  is a more budget-friendly, but longer, overland journey from Kathmandu to the Nepal-China border and then by road through Tibet to Mount Kailash. 

Pilgrims can also travle through Lhasa Route: in which they to fly to Kathmandu and then take a transfer flight to Lhasa, China, for an even quicker journey, though more expensive.

There are other  primary routes to reach Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar mentioned below: 

- *Lipulekh Pass Route (Uttarakhand, India)*: This is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, this route takes approximately 22 days and involves trekking.

- *Nathu La Pass Route (Sikkim, India)*

It is also organized by MEA, this route takes around 21 days and is ideal for senior citizens, with minimal trekking.

Registration Process :

The Indian citizens can register through the official MEA website (kmy.gov.in) with a valid Indian passport and medical fitness certificate.The Pilgrimage cost per devotee ranges approximate  from ₹1.80 lakhs to ₹3.20 lakhs per person, depending on the route and services and duration of the Yatra typically takes 9-25 days, depending on the chosen route. The physical demand of pilgrim needs moderate to high, requiring acclimatization and physical fitness and the spiritual significance of pilgrimage involves a 52 km circumambulation (parikrama) of Mount Kailash, considered a sacred ritual. The average age for undertaking this holy voyage is between 10 to 70 years  and one has to apply for proper visa before 45 days of commencement of this holy  pilgrimage.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar is from May to September, with pleasant weather and clear skies but one should avoid  winter months due to extreme cold and closed routes. The sacred peak, believed to be the axis of the universe and Lake Mansarovar, a pristine freshwater lake, considered purifying and sacred.
