Kesar ( Saffron ) :
Anardhana :
This is a wild type of pomegranate commonly called "Daru" that is grown vastly on hilly slopes of Jammu and Kashmiri, Uttaranchal, and Himachal Pradesh in India, and its dried seeds with pulp are commonly known as "Anardhana". It has culinary importance as a spice for dishes or curries as well acidulant in place of Tamarind. The juice of its fresh leaves and its young fruit is used to cure dysentery and the flower buds and rind of fruits are used to cure chronic diarrhea and dysentery. The punicine an alkaloid present in it's bark is toxic to tapeworms. The unripe fruits and flowers of the Anardhana plant help to induce vomiting well it's role fruits act as a tonic, and laxative enrich blood, and help to cure sore throat, eye sores, brain ailments, and chest diseases
Kalazera (Black Cumin)
It is also popularly known as Shahi Jeera Kashmiri Jeera or Himalayan cumin and is one of the most common seed spices grown in dry regions of hilly areas of the Himalayan region in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory of India. Its seeds or flowers and oil have a strong flavor and aromatic smell with a bitter taste that is used as a spice for flavoring dishes.
It has medicinal use also like it is useful in hoarseness of voice, dyspepsia, and chronic diarrhea as used to treat diabetes by controlling blood sugar levels as well as reducing bad cholesterol It's tubers are also eaten as a vegetable in our Union territory. It is also given after delivery to clear toxins from the uterus and hence has multiple uses in our day-to-day lives.
Turmeric :
Turmeric is one of the most important and famous Spices of Jammu and Kashmir which is grown here in Subtropical plains and low Hills of the Jammu region. it is grown in open or under partial shade in a few pockets of Jammu and District Udhampur in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India as well to a limited extent in Kitchen Gardens. Turmeric is one of the ancient Spices used in the preparation of curried dishes and this yellow-colored spice imparts many Indian Dishes with its characteristic color and flavor.
Turmeric is a stomachic carminative tonic, vermicide, blood pressure purifier, and antiseptic. It is packed with antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-carcinogenic, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is good for the brain, it prevents cancer and has tremendous healing properties. it also helps us to deal with skin problems and turmeric powder is used for healing cuts, wounds, etc. This also helps us to deal with disabilities to some extent.
