Doodhpathri a famous and beautiful unexplored tourist & wonderful hill station also known as Valley of Milk is situated in Khan Sahib in District Budgam of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir (India). It is about 42 kilometers from Summer Capital Srinagar and about 22 Kilometers from District Headquarters Budgam. This unexplored wonderful hill station is based at an altitude of 2730 meters i.e. 8960 ft above sea level.

The history of this destination goes back to ancient times when a famous saint of Kashmir namely " Sheikh ul Alam Sheikh Noordin Noorani " prayed in search of water in the meadow to offer prayers. The God-loving Saint with his stick pricked the ground for water but milk came out of earth. on seeing Milk, he asked for milk that can be used for drinking not for ablution. Milk upon hearing this started converting into water and thus the meadow got its name as Doodpathri(Valley of Milk).
But still, all in present times, the color of water flowing through meadows appears milky at a distance but it is cold throughout the year. The meadows are covered with lush green grasses and silver shinning streams flowing on stones that add another feather to its scenic beauty.
It is a bowl-shaped Alpine valley in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas covered with snow-clad mountains, meadows of pine fir, and Deodhar. The most favored flowers in summer here are Daisies, forget me not, and butter cups and during winter it remains covered with snow.
