The Golden Temple in India, also known as Sri Darbar sahib and Shri Harmandir Sahib is located in the Indian City of Amritsar in the State of Punjab. This holy temple is the main place of worship for Sikh people allowing equal entry to all the castes, creeds, and colors. The temple is a part of larger complex architectured around a pond or sarovar on which it appears to float, connected by a long causeway to the surrounding structures. The Golden temple of India's has more formal name, Haramandir.Sahib that comes from the combination of its architect, Guru Arjun Sahib, with " Hari" or "God" and "Mandre" meaning "House". It is also alternatively called as Darbar Sahib meaning "Assembly Hall". The original Structure of his Holy Temple was built in late 1500s but however it was reconstructed after damage from Afghan invaders, with its surface covered in gilt and gold foil and covering has granted its more general name, the Golden Temple.
The complex of Golden Temple includes the sorrounding Sarovar known as Amrita Saras or the pool of Nectar whose waters are often bathed in by pilgrims beforing entering holy temple. The waters of the Sarovar are also believed to hold magical and healing powers. The other buildings in the complex include a food Hall that serves pilgrims and the Akal Takt an administrative building of the Sikhs. Guru Arjun Singh Sahib designed and oversaw the building of the original temple in the late 16the century. Guru Arjan Sahib designed the temple with an eye towards making it a place for all creeds, castes and races. This holy Temple is open for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
The important things to do at the temple are receiving blessings from Guru Granth Sahib, listening to the Gurbani hymns sung by the temple priests , Taking part in rituals,, eating free food at Langar Sewa and volunteering for community service etc. Lacs of pilgrims visit here every year from different parts of India and abroad to seek blessings and perform religous rituals here. The holy shrine is about 63 kilometers away from the city of Jammu and is well connected by splendid road. Jawala Mukhi Temple Kangra Himachal Pradesh :
This is another Holy and famous Hindu Temple in North India situated in District Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. This Temple is regarded as as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and is dedicated to Godess Jawala Mukhi who is considered as the deity of of flaming mouth.
