Zurimanz is a small beautiful village famously called Bangladesh in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is an idyllic Tourist destination of North Kashmir in District Bandipora J&K, India. It is situated along the banks of the Wular Lake and has become now a must-visit destination in Kashmir Valley because of its stunning natural beauty. A heavy rush of tourists and travelers from India and abroad is witnessed here who visit here to witness its stunning beauty which they believe is awe-inspiring.
Zurimanz village is also known as Bangladesh of Kashmir as this village is a great place to get lost in the untamed natural beauty of Kashmir. It is tucked away in the majestic snow-laden Himalayas as Kashmir is proof of Paradise on the earth.
Zurimanz Village also famously known as Bangladesh of India, came into existence after the 1971 Indo-Pak war in East Pakistan. During that war period, a devastating fire broke out in the Zurimanz village, and the whole of the village turned into ashes. People of the village Zurimanz started rebuilding their houses in the village and due to the coincidence of events East Pakistan became Bangladesh and this rebuilt village was also called Bangladesh.
During our research on this village, we contacted some old people of the village, and according to many of them who said that this place started getting tourist attention only after two brothers of the village built a Shikhara (houseboat), a traditional Kashmiri houseboat for the lake to attract tourists to come to Zurimanz Village in the hope to enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Wular lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in South Asia while embracing its beauty and picturesque surroundings.
Wular Lake is a freshwater lake situated in the District Bandipora. The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the river Jehlum. As far as the lake size is concerned, it varies from 12 to 100 square miles( 30 to 260 square kilometers) depending on the season. This lake is one of the largest lakes in South Asia and is one of the six Indian Wetlands designated as Ramsar Sites. This lake is an important habitat for fish and also sustains a wealthy population of birds. This lake has an artificial island which was built by King Zain-ul-Abidin in 1444 commonly known as Zaina Lank. This island bears several heritage sites and among them is a mosque and a temple. Tourists enjoy boating, bird watching, water sports, etc. with great spirit and enthusiasm in Wular Lake

It is about 18 kilometers away from Sopore Town and from Jammu, the winter capital of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India, it is about 307 kilometers. The best way to reach here is to hire easily available taxis, cars, buses, cabs etc from Srinagar, Sopore and Jammu.

Wular Lake called Wolar Lake in Kashmiri is the second largest freshwater lake in South Asia and is located near Bandipora Town. Wular Lake is 24 kilometers in length, its breadth is 10 km and its total area is about 200 square km. The lake lies between the towns of Sopore and Bandipore, in Sangrama, near Baramulla Road. The lake has also small islands in its center called Zaina Park. Wular Lake is also said to be a remnant of Satisar Lake which existed in ancient times.
