There are more than a hundred beautiful tourist destinations here worth seeing and today I am coming up with one such unexplored tourist destination of Jammu Province which is quite historical and worth visiting that is unexplored Noori Chamb.

Noori Chamb History :

It is a beautiful historical waterfall also known as the Milky Waterfall in the headwaters of the Poonch River in District Poonch of Jammu & Kashmir. This waterfall is probably the largest in the area alongside the Mughal Road that has been named after the Mughal queen Noor Jahan. This amazing waterfall is situated near   Behram Galla in Surankot Tehsil about forty-five kilometers from Pooch town.

According to research, its name is associated with the name of Mughal Queen Noor Jahan as this scenic place was one of their favorite and often visited locations for relaxation. Emperor Jahangir, a great lover of nature named this waterfall Noori Aabshar after the name of his queen Noor Jahan that local Pahari dialect became famous as "Noori Chamb" as Chamb means "waterfall". It is believed that Queen Noor Jehan during the halt of their caravan at this scenic location used to take baths in drizzling water that made rainbows on fair sunny days and the stony frame in which the mirror was fixed is narrated as part of the romantic story of the queen with Emperor Jahangir. The Mughal Queen had fixed this mirror beside that fall on the mountain wall where she used to have her make-up after the bath. It has an alleviation of 3480 m. &  Some of the peaks around this waterfall remain covered with snow throughout the year. Its southern side is surrounded by beautiful forests of fir and deodar trees.

Noori Chamb  source :

The main source of " Noori Chamb" water is the Lucksar and Kolsar lakes which are located at an altitude of 3900 m near Panjtari Marg in the Peer Panchal Mountain range.  Fifty years back the waterfall plunged to 75 ft. which was higher than 100 ft. during the Mughal emperor period but at present, it is 2/3rd of its height due to cutting and eroding of the rock. It is at a forty-five milometers distance from Bufliaz(Poonch). Tourists across the country and abroad visit  Noori Chamb in summer every year to enjoy and see the scenic beauty and waterfall of this hill station.

Noori Chamb Distance  :

This beautiful and historical Tourist destination can easily be reached from Jammu, Rajouri, and Poonch in the Jammu region side as tourists can also reach here from  District  Shopian on the Kashmir Side through Mughal Mughal Road via Pir Ki Gali, a beautiful tourist location on the the the the Kashmir side in Shopian District. Transportation facilities are easily available for tourists from the District Headquarters of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Shopian like minibusses, Taxis, cabs, etc. Hotels and guest houses are not available in this hill station due to risky tough hilly terrains and narrow mountain roads but such facilities are easily available at affordable rates at the District Headquarters of Poonch & Rajouri Towns for the tourists and visitors.

These facilities are also available for tourists and travelers in District Headquarters Shopian on the Kashmir side.  The visitors, tourists, and schools visit this beautiful scenic location in the daytime and come back in the evening before sunset to  District Headquarters after enjoying the scenic beauty and waterfall as night halting is not possible here due to long hilly terrains and weather conditions.

Conclude  :

It is suggested that facilities like tourist bungalows, huts, and food centers be created in the destination which will surely attract more tourists and visitors. it is also an honor to construct  proper tourist  infrastructure with proper road connectivity in this tough Hilly tourist location, the flow of domestic as well as global tourists will surely increase more and that  would surely improve the economy of the people of this area and give a big flip to the tourism sector as well
