Bhaderwah, a land of splendors and surprises is a beautiful town, Tehsil and Sub- Divison situated in Doda District in Jammu Province of union Territory of J&K, India. It is about 200 kilometers away from the winter capital J&K, Jammu. and this impressive Town is cradled in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of 1613 meters from sea level and is famous for a 600-year-old festival called Mela Pat. The ancient name of Bhaderwah was BhaderKali after the name of Goddess Bhaderkali and quite popular and famous for its cold climate, ultimate scenic beauty, splendid landscapes, trekking, horse riding, etc. Bhaderwah is a land of surprises and splendours as well a place where God's architectural experience and elegance is closely felt by any one whoso ever visits here.
A famous historian and writer Kalhana described Bhaderwah in his book Rajatrangani written in Sanskrit as a Naag Bhoomi which means land of snakes.
