Today, they are found in over 80 countries, with the majority being in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific Islands but in India, coconut palms are widely distributed along the coastal regions, particularly in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.

The Coconut palms thrive in tropical climates with high temperatures, high humidity, and abundant rainfall. They require the temperature ranging between 20-30°C (68-86°F), require rainfall from 1,000-2,000 mm (39-79 in) per annum & Soil that must be well -drained, sandy soils with a pH range of 5.5-7.5. They require sunlight between full sun to partial mode.
