Any visitor planning to travel by road from Manali can visit Lahaul via Atal Tunnel from Manali while as Spiti can be reached through Kinnaur route or via Manali.

Lahaul and Spiti district is approximately 282 km from Shimla, and the journey typically takes around 9-10 hours by bus, depending on road conditions and traffic. The best way to get from Shimla to Lahaul and Spiti district without a car is by bus, operated by HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation). The bus journey takes around 9 hours and 37 minutes, with frequent departures from Shimla ISBT Tutikandi to Manali, and then connecting to Lahaul and Spiti district.

 Private taxis or cabs are also available for hire, offering a more convenient and flexible option, but at a higher cost. It is also seen that for adventure-seekers, self-driving is an option, but be prepared for challenging road conditions and high-altitude passes.

*Route Options:*

- *Shimla-Kaza Route:* 

This route takes around 2-3 days, covering approximately 412 km, via Kinnaur Valley, and is considered a more gradual ascent, allowing for better acclimatization.

- *Manali-Kaza Route:* 

This route is shorter, taking around 7-8 hours, but involves higher altitude passes, including Rohtang Pass, and is only accessible from June to October.
