Mantalai, a Stunning global tourist place now.

It is a famous and one of the most popular tourist/religious destinations which are Situated a few four to six kilometers from the historical religious place Sudhmahadev in Block Chenani of District Udhampur in union Terriority of Jammu and Kashmir in India. The mesmerizing and beautiful village Mantalai is surrounded by lush green deodar forests and is situated at about 2000 meters. Tourists and pilgrims visit here in large numbers from different corners of the country and abroad to enjoy its natural beauty, and its pleasant weather and pay their obeisance as this is a place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. 

Therefore this place is not only a popular tourist attraction but also has historical and religious relevance. The live weather of Mantalai is 23.7 degrees Celsius which is quite a pleasant and soothing one. The destination is about 115 kilometers away from Jammu, the winter capital of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and is 42 kilometers from this world-famous Hill station Patnitop & it is at a distance of about 56 kilometers from Bus Stand Udhampur.  

This famous and popular tourist spot is surrounded by Block Asar towards the North, East it is surrounded by Marmat, towards the South it is surrounded by Block Udhampur and it surrounded by Block Ramban towards the North. In Mantalai a famous spiritual personality of India, namely Swami Dhirender Bramhchari, often used to visit this place for meditation and prayers as this is a calm and cool place. 

He has constructed a tree-shaped beautiful airfield (strip) yoga center and many other projects that could not be completed due to his untimely sad demise. The place used to be a big hub of spirituality and meditation of the country previously where tall personalities of the country used to visit here for yoga and meditation. 

Mantalai History : 

There are many unexplored archeological sites like a big Airfield and a fifteen century Garh Barkot Fort on the bank of the holy Devika rivulet in the nearby area. The area has good road connectivity but due to the lack of adequate tourist infrastructure in the area, the tourist mostly goes back on the same day after spending time here to enjoy the natural beauty.  The scenic beauty, lofty hillocks all around, dense forests, and vast agricultural fields have remained a great source of attraction for visitors to these areas.

There are one or two tourist guest houses available in the area but due to the heavy rush of visitors, these can not cater to the needs of the considerable number of visitors which needs to be improved immediately. 

There is also a beautiful zoo near the yoga center which has a unique type of wild animals that remain the main focus of the tourists. One can also see a beautiful big unfinished swimming pool nearby the place. The weather here remains quite pleasant and cool during summer hot summer and there is a heavy rush of visitors to this place as they after visiting the famous Sudhmahadev temple also visit here to see & enjoy the natural beauty and the amazing unfinished projects in Mantalai. 

Tourists and visitors also visit Naino Devi, a nearby popular tourist destination after passing five kilometers through the beautiful woods of Mantalai. 

People of the area here speak Dogri and Hindi languages. Mantalai and Sudhmahadev are popular and world-famous destinations that have treasures of rich ancient monuments and temples and that is why these places witness huge rush of tourists and pilgrims throughout the year from every nook and corner of India as well from other parts of the world. The destination is no less than heaven on earth. 

It has come to notice that mega international level facilities are coming up shortly at Mantalai like the Yoga center with adequate required infrastructure, counseling rooms, associated infrastructure like lightning and illumination, beautification and landscaping, solid waste management, the establishment of Ayurvedic complex with traditional  Indian spa therapies with library and archiving center, proper adequate tourism infrastructure comprising of guest houses, shopping malls,  hotels and restaurants, etc which can attract more tourist from different parts of the country and abroad on a mass level.

Mantalai  Places to Visit  :

There are many amazing and mesmerizing tourist cum religious places in the vicinity of this mountainous tourist spot Mantalai like Sudhmahadev, Naino Devi, Billo Ki Powri, Gouri Kund, Sanasar, Patnitop, etc. where visitors from every corner of India and abroad visit to enjoy the natural beauty of these destinations and also pay their obedience there. I would like to give brief information to my readers about the importance of these places in this blog for their knowledge.It is pertinent to mention here that both the villages that are Mantalai and Sudhmahadev have a huge potential for religion, heritage, adventure, and general tourism. 

Mantalai , a Pious Hindu Religious Place : 

Mantalai is also a big Religious destination in entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India because this holy place is also associated with the marriage of Lord Shiva, the creator of this universe with Goddess Parvati. There is beautiful and historical temple here which is believed to be the place where marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place. This holy and historical temple in Mantalai features a beautiful pond that was used as a Homa Kund during their  marriage rituals and idol Goddess Parvati as Kanaya (a small child) is also nestled in this temple. 

Mantalai a religious cum Tourist destination is surrounded by Deodar forests, snowcapped Mountains, ever green meadows and terrace shapped rice fields. The marriage took place in Mantalai where the present pond is filled with water which once was used as Homa Kund till the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati was over. Goddess Parvati since her childhood used to worship Lord  Shiva and Lord Shiva was pleased with her worship and dedication accepted her marriage proposal and this was the place where their marriage ceremony was held. Therefore this holy place is also having a big relevance in Hinduism and lakhs of devotees from Jammu and Kashmir and india visit here to pay their homage at this place. This religious cum Tourist place also hosts cultural festivals like  " Kudd" and Jattars Jagrans.

Just near Mantalai, there is a famous and highly revered place in the Hindu religion that is at a distance of  42 kilometers from Patnitop and 112 kilometers away from the Bus Stand in Jammu called Sudhmahadev which is mostly visited by visitors and pilgrims throughout the year. The temple of Sudhmahadev is believed to be 3000 years old and the temple houses a black marble statue of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. A trident of Lord Shiva is also preserved here. Visitors and pilgrims visit here in large numbers to enjoy the natural beauty and as well pay homage to the historical and religious temple. 

Pilgrims especially visit here on the full moon night of Sawan in the festival to worship Lord Shiva who blesses the devotees and fulfills their wishes.  There is a famous underground stream called Devak which is believed to be as sacred as Ganga. It originates at Sudhmahadev and disappears among the rocks downstream.

Mantalai Distance:- 

Tourists and visitors can easily hire taxis, cabs, and buses from Jammu and  Udhmpur District Headquarters for Maltalai and other nearby tourist destinations to enjoy the amazing natural beauty. The climate remains quite pleasant in the summer season and one can enjoy the mountains journey on a well-connected and beautiful road. Proper Hotels, restaurants, guest houses, etc are available in Sudhmadev Town for visitors and tourists at affordable prices.

Mantalai  Climate  :

The overall weather in Mantalai and Sudhmahadev places is quite delightful during the peak summer season when the temperature in the rest parts of the country remains quite high and unbearable. The average temperature in these places always remains below 33 degrees Celsius. A heavy rush of tourists and pilgrims is witnessed here during the summer season. Winter is very cool and chilly here and one can also visit here during the winters without any problem.

Mantalai Hotels and Restaurants : 

There are now many home stays and small hotels   and restaurants available  in Mantalai but a many new guest houses and huts  have been constructed which may be now available for visitors shortly. The tourists can easily stay at Sudhmahadev located at a distance of 5 to 6 kilometers from Mantalai. The visitors and pilgrims  can halt at night in Sudhmahadev town where proper Hotels, restaurants,  rest houses, home stays etc are easily available on nominal prices at the town of sudhmahadev.

The area of Mantalai and Sudhmahadev has tremendous tourism potential and have also religious importance. The tourist circuit is quite mountainous with pleasant weather conditions and fascinating viewpoints. 

Let us hope in the coming times Mantalai becomes a global tourist destination and the in-complete tourist projects in the pipeline are accomplished shortly to put it on the world tourist map for exhibiting its natural beauty globally.

But while visiting both these places, one can surely feel that he is in Paradise on Earth due to their immense natural and picturesque beauty with pleasant climatic conditions during hot summers. 

I have personally visited Mantalai along with my  family latest on 5th of January 2025 for two days and seen tremendous development all over this stunning Tourist place where an international Yoga centre has been constructed by Government of India  besides other adequate  tourist infrastructure like countless modern  tourist huts, Hotels, guests House, mediation Pods in the shape of  small pyramids, beautiful parks  on the global level and I feel the in the up coming  time it will surely be a international tourist center for domestic and global tourists as many developmental works are still under way for boasting this breathtaking Tourist place on the global level.
