The world's largest River Island that is the most fascinating river Island is situated in India in the State of  Asam under the name and style " Majuli". This stands  located in the river Brahmaputra- quite lush green, free of pollution and picturesque. Manjuli River  is an island in the Brahmaputra River in Assam and in 2016 it became the first island that was   made a district in India.

The world's largest river island is also called the cultural capital of Asam and the place is inhabited mostly by the population of tribals. Most of the population here is inhibited by only tribals with their unique culture. Majuli become the first island that was made a District in 2016 in India. This amazing tourist spot can be reached by visitors and Tourists from Guwahati international airport in more than 7 hours via Johart it's a nearby town by bus, trains, etc. Joharat a nearby town of Majuli has even airport facilities also. 

Regular flights are very much available to Jorhat Airport which is also known as Rowriah Airport from Guwahati and other eastern and northeastern cities.Neemati Ghat is about 14 kilometers away from Jorhat and can be reached from Jorhat by a cab or bus. Visitors and travelers can also use ferry services to travel to Manjuli Island from Neemati Ghat but there are only two trips from Neemati Ghat to Manjuli between 10 am to 3 pm.

Majuli culture and civilization : 

It is a larger River  island nestled in the state of Assam in India that is formed by the Brahamputra River to the South and East , the Suban Siri River to the west. 

The poplilation of Manjuli comprises of Misings, Brahamans, Deoris, Ahoms, Kacharis, Kayasthas, Kalitas, Koch Raj bangshis, Sonowal Kachari Kumar but the main ethenic group here is Misings, Deoris and Sonowal Kacharis. The local people here speak mainly  Assemes and mising languages. The most important thing about Manjuli is that it has been the cultural capital of Assemes civilization since 16th century.

The famous and popular festival here is RAAS UTSAV. The Raas Lila is an annual festival being performed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the months of October-November (Kati- Aghun) during the autumn season with great fervor and gaitey.

It is not known for certain important features in which Sattra Rasa Lila was first introduced in Majuli as a performing festival.

The local people here eat mostly rice and leafy greens are staples prepared mostly and often with minimal spices. The main occupation of people in Manjuli is farming and the crops mainly grown here are like rice of three types namely Sali, Ahu and Boa, oil seeds, wheat, potatos, garlic, onion, pulses, sugar cane and plenty of vegetables.

The Satras of Majuli preserve antiques like weapons, Jewelery , utensils and a lot many other items having important cultural significance.  The Handloom work of the Tribal people of Majuli is mostly the Mishings are famous all over the world. Handloom is also the major occupation of people here, fishing pottery , boat making and mask making are also important economic activities of this wonderful place.

Majuli Wetlands : 

The main big and well known wetlands in Manjuli are Beels which is a billabong or a lake like wetland with static water formed tupically by inundation of low lying lands during the period of floods. Beels are perenial water bird wetlands which is a habitat for 250 species of migratory birds, Plethora etc.
