Mana Village History :
Mana Village has a very rich history and it is believed to be one of the oldest inhabited villages in India. Mana Village is believed to be the birthplace of Pandavas and this place is located near the Indo- Tibet border thus the inhabitants are influenced both by Indian and Tibetan cultures. This village derived its name from Manas Putras, the biological son of Lord Brahama.
The history of Mana Tourist Village dates back to the period of Mahabharta and it is believed that traces of Mahabharta are very much visible in Mana Village. It is also believed that Pandavas passed through this Village on their Journey to Heaven. The strongest of five brothers, Bheem built a rock bridge in order to cross the river Sarasvati. There is also a small cave namely Vyas Guha here where sage Veda Viyasa lived and composed the whole holy Mahabharta. This is also a fact that once you reach top of the Hill here at Mana , the air level drops and normal breathing takes a bit of an effort.
One important history about this place is that local inhabitants trace their origin back to Mongol tribes and follow a migratory style of life and the residents are believed to be the last generation of Bhotia community. From Rishikesh, take the National Highway 58 (NH58) towards Badrinath.The route passes through towns like Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, and Joshimath. The distance from Rishikesh to Badrinath is approximately 300 kilometers, and the journey can take around 10-12 hours by road, depending on the mode of transportation. After reaching Badrinath that serves as base camp for visiting Mana Village, one can hire a local Taxi or used shared vehicles fo Mana Village which is situated at a distance of about 3 kilometres away from Badrinath
By Air :
Tourists can also travel to Mana Village by air. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is approximately 327 kilometers away from Mana. From the airport, one can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Mana the last and first tourist Village of India.
By Train :
The other means of transportation to reach Mana Village is train. The nearest railway station is Rishikesh, about 300 kilometers away. From Rishikesh, one can hire a taxi or a bus to reach Mana Village.
