Sansar Lake is situated at an altitude of about 2050 meters above sea level and tourists from every nook and corner of the country and abroad visit here in large numbers every year to enjoy its scenic views of fascinating mountain ranges including Mrammah Masif and is famous and popular for its lush green alpine meadows, high peaks, and low rolling hills.
It is situated 20 kilometers west of the world-famous and popular Hill resort Patnitop, udhampur District on the National Highway 1A. It is one of the lesser-known hill stations but it offers many activities like rock climbing, paragliding, trekking, camping, and abseiling to adventure enthusiasts. Sansar is also a religious place that is perched on top of the Shank Pal Ridge, the Shankh Pal Temple which is 400 hundred years old is a big tourist attraction. This temple can be reached by trekking in five hours.
There is another important Hindu religious site that is called Nag temple in the Sansar where the pilgrims visit in large numbers to pay their reverence to the snake king cobra. It is the largest Tulip Garden of Jammu division spread over an area of 40 kanals of land. Every year in April locals as well as tourists throng Sanasar to get a glimpse of the tulips in the garden mostly on its first day of opening and it adds a feather to its natural beauty.
Shankh Pal Temple :
The ancient and famous Shankh Pal Temple is situated at the highest point of the Nearby Mountain Range called Shanta Ridge. It is located at an altitude of 2897 meters from the sea level and is purely dedicated to Nag Shankhpal. It is said that no mortar was used during construction while joining the stones of the temple. It takes about a few hours to walk to reach here from Sanasar. There is a pass called as Shanta Gala on Shanta Ridge from where one can have a beautiful view of Panchari Valley on the order side.
There is another ancient heritage temple namely Naag Mandir(Temple) near Patnitop which is about more than 600 years old and has a rich religious relevance and importance in Hinduism. Every year during the festival of Nag Panchami, the devotees, and pilgrims throng here in large numbers from every nook and corner of the Jammu Division and outside to pay their respects and worship Snake King Cobra. This temple is purely made up of wooden structures that are centuries old. The nearest Railway Station is Udhampur and the nearest airport is Satwari Airport Jammu.
