Unexplored Sarthal Valley Kathua paradise on earth.

Kathua District is situated in Jammu Province in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, India. It shoulders the border with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. It is believed that Jodh Singh, a Rajput of the Andotra clan migrated from Hastinapur to Kathua nearly 2000 years ago and settled here. The 3 hamlets of Taraf Tajwal, Taraf Manjali, and Taraf Bajwal were by the same account established by his Three sons namely Teju, Kindal, and Bhaju. Therefore tracing their ancestry to these three groups now known as Tajwalia, Bhajwalia, and Khanwalia Rajputs of the Andotra sub caste respectively. The three hamlets were loosely called as Kathai in earlier times which later on with time came to be called Kathua.

It is also pertinent to mention here that many places commemorate a visit to Kathua by Pandavas. Lord Krishna is said to have come to this area to get back from Jamabant, the same diamond that is known as Kohi-i-- Noor, part of the crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.

Kathua is also called as city of Sufis and saints owing to the presence of a large number of religious shrines. It is also believed that the word Kathua is derived from the name of a famous saint Rishi Kashyap who disguised himself as a Tortoise (Kashwa) for strong meditation and with time, it became Kathua.

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has started taking a keen interest in developing these unseen tourist resorts like Sarthal Valley and its other associated scenic spots with suitable climates with adequate tourist infrastructure and soon it will become one of the most visited tourist places in the country. This
may also prove beneficial for the people of J&K and as well improve the economy of the Union Terrorism. Let's hope the concerned Department develops all such unseen hilly tourist resorts in J&K fully with adequate Tourism infrastructure and some tangible steps have already been taken in the last few years on a war footing in this direction by the administration of J&K to explore and develop them on the fast track so that employment generation avenues for educated unemployed youth are created to make them self reliant for making their honorable living. This will generate employment avenues for unemployed youth and boost the economy as Tourism is considered the backbone of the economy of J&K.
