Jammu is a district in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir which is famous for its Temples and its enchanting natural beauty. It is also known as "The City of Temples and it lies in the Northern part of India and on the banks of the Tawi River. It is 681 Kilometers far away from Ladakh and 575 kilometers from Delhi. Jammu is the winter Capital of the UT (Union Territory)  Jammu and Kashmir. It is spread over an area of 42,241 sq. Meters.  
Jammu was Named "Jamboo" in the 9th century. Jammu city came into existence around 900 CE. Maharaja Hari Singh, the son of Amar Singh was the Last King who ruled Jammu and Kashmir in 1923. The King Died On 26, April 1961 In Bombay. After the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 the reorganization came into effect on 31 October 2019 and after that, Jammu and Kashmir became Union Territory.

1. Bahu fort 

Bahu Fort is an iconic tourist place located in Jammu. Bahu Fort is situated along the banks of the Tawi River. It has a height of over 325 meters. The exterior of the fort has a beautiful garden all around. The garden is filled with different types of flowers and waterfalls. It has a famous BAWE WALI MATA on its premises. Also in March and April, a fair is organized here to seek the divine blessings of Bawe Wali Mata. 2. Manda Zoo Park :

Manda Zoo, also known as Manda Deer Park, is located in the city of Jammu in the Indian UT Jammu and Kashmir. It is spread over an area of approximately 13.75 acres and is situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Manda Mountain Range.

One unique feature of Manda Zoo is that it is primarily a deer park, with a wide variety of deer species living in natural habitats within the park. These include the spotted deer, sambar deer, blackbuck, and hog deer, among others. Visitors to the park can observe these graceful animals up close and learn more about their natural behavior and habitats.

In addition to the deer, Manda Zoo also houses other exotic animals such as leopards, lions, bears, and a variety of bird species. The park also has a small aquarium, where visitors can see different types of fish and aquatic creatures.

Another unique aspect of Manda Zoo is its location. Situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level, the park offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. 3. Raghu Nath Temple : 


The world-famous Raghu Nath Temple with Seven Shrines each with its Shikhar, meaning mountain peak which refers to the rising tower in the Hindu Temple architecture in North India is one of the largest temple complexes in North India situated in Jammu City. This Historic and famous temple was built by Maharaja Gulab Singh and his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh between 1853 and 1860. The temple has Gods enshrined but the Presiding deity is Lord Ram, an Avtar(incarnation) of Lord Vishnu. The Temple bears lofty Shikhars where every Shrine has its own Shikar. On every entry point there is a portrait of Maharaja Ranbir Singh Ji and an image of Lord Hanuman exaggerates the site. The central Shrine is fully dedicated to Lord Ram/Raghunath. There is a library in the temple complex where you find rare Sanskrit books and manuscripts easily available. People, Tourists, and travelers visit here in large numbers throughout the year and seek the blessing of the Lord.

4. Peer Baba Shrine Satwari : 

The dargah of Peer Baba Budhan Ali Shah commonly known as Peer Baba is a holy shrine located on the outskirts of Jammu city at a distance of 8 kilometers towards the aerodrome in Satwari, Jammu, is a popular Sufi shrine highly revered and visited by people of all faiths in large numbers to seek blessings of the saint who fulfills their wishes.

The shrine attracts devotees from different religions and is particularly popular among Hindus and Sikhs. It is believed that Baba Shadi Shaheed has the power to grant wishes and provide protection to his devotees. The shrine is also known for its annual Urs (death anniversary) festival, which is held in the month of Rajab (the seventh month of the Islamic calendar) and attracts thousands of devotees.

Interestingly, the shrine is also known for its unique tradition of tying threads to the trees surrounding the shrine. Devotees believe that tying a thread to a tree and making a wish will increase the likelihood of their wish being granted. This practice is said to have originated from the Hindu tradition of tying threads to trees as a form of prayer.

Overall, the Peer Baba Shrine in Satwari, Jammu, is an important religious site that reflects the cultural and religious diversity of the region as well as a big example of communal harmony between different sections of the society in UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

5. Akhnoor Fort

Akhnoor Fort is a beautiful and peaceful Fort which is situated in the Historical Town Akhnoor of District Jammu in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. 

In Ancient Times, The fort was known as Asikni and after a few years, the name was changed to Akhnoor fort. The fort is very close to the bank of the Chenab River, which is why it is very famous.
