Radio Sharda 90.4 FM | The Marvelous Journey Of Radio Sharda.
It's Marvelous Journey :
The Journey of Radio Sharda goes back to 1990 that reminds us about the horrible story of seven lac patriotic Kashmiri Pandits who were forcefully thrown out of their homes and hearths from Kashmir valley under a well-planned conspiracy by Pakistan backed terrorists leaving behind everything-movable and immovable properties worth crores & crores. They forcefully migrated from their ancestral place just to save their lives, honor, religion, and Nationality that shattered them mentally, physically economically, and morally which is beyond imagination to explain in words.
This micro intellectual community got dispersed like seeds in many States of our country and mostly in Jammu where they are provided shelter by the Government in temporary tents in different outskirts of Jammu city in scorching temperature of 44 degrees which they had never seen before or felt in their lives and it was not less than a bolt from the blue for them as this had taken away every comfort of life from them all of a sudden and were left at the mercy of God for their survival in exile in their own country. It was rather the darkest period of history where 7 lac patriotic, peace-loving, intellectual community was wiped away from their homes and hearths within in a month or so & were facing identity as well as survival crisis in the exile.
This migration led them to face big challenges with a lot of chaos and confusion that how to preserve & protect their art, culture, civilization, and religious ethos which had been dispersed like seeds in many parts of the country and abroad due to this forceful exodus. But fortunately, during that period, a ray of hope emerged out in the society in Shape of Mr. Romesh,Hangloo, an intellectual, Educationist, philanthropist, and a renowned figure among Kashmiri Pandits, hailing from a remote village Hangalgund in District Anantnag Kashmir, himself a refugee had a great passion and spirit to serve the society, came forward and volunteered himself for the services of the community in the crucial exile period of 1990 and started rendering social service relentlessly and devoted himself to the noble cause.
Later in 1995, he registered an NGO under the name and style "Pir Panchal" to expand and expedite his social services more vigorously for needy people in the fields of Education, social works, sports, and environmental spheres that left an indelible print on the hearts and souls of the community hence he became a favorite figure in the community with his good deeds and tremendous social services at a hard time of the migration that will be remembered times to come.
In 2007, Mr. Romesh Hangloo went to Britain as a cultural activist and found there that the Government of the UK gave licenses for the opening community radios that inspired him a lot and he made up his mind for setting up a community radio channel in Jammu so that he can do much better for this hapless community in saving their lost culture, art, music, civilization and ethos which he felt was the need of the hour at that time. Back home, fortunately, he read in a News Paper that India is also playing on the same track and is giving permission to NGOs of repute to go for a community radio station.
It was finally 5th December 2011 when the towers of Radio Sharda, a community radio went in air and by dint of his hard work and well thought out machinations, this community radio has achieved new heights of progress and success not only in India but also in other foreign countries where Kashmiris are based by providing quality Programmes on culture, music, civilization, education, sports, religious ethos and thus playing a key role in preserving the identity and cultural fabrics of the community in exile which proved fruitful.
Radio Sharda helps the community people to get connected to the lost valley through its music, art, and Kashmiri Language. Radio Sharda unites community people on various iconic religious observances like Maha Shivratri. The most favorite and popular programs like Aradana, Wangigvoore, Mayoon Vaatan Firods hue, weekly Doctors program, Safar Zindagi Ka and special programs for children, etc are transmitted by the station daily which is being appreciated and loved by the community
