A charming and famous historical Mughal garden namely Achabal was built around in 1620 AD by the Mughal Empress Nur Jahan. It is situated at a distance of about  8 kilometers from District Anantnag in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Achabal garden is a small Mughal Garden beautifully created and its picturesque beauty makes it one of the best tourist destinations to visit. The most fascinating feature of the garden is a waterfall that enters into a pool of water. 

The  Garden was created at the site of a  powerful spring that enters the garden like a waterfall, making the whole place most attractive and mesmerizing for tourists and visitors. The most beautiful of all springs is  Achabal and it gushes out of the sosanwar Hill &  in the garden of Achabal the water gushes out of the spasm with great vigor throughout the year. 

There is also a trout farm for seed fish nearby and the garden is universally considered as a visual treat for the eyes. The garden is also adorned with sprawling chinar trees Besides, there are stepped terraces, multi-colored flowers,  conventional elegance, and ornamental shrubs which add additional feathers to its beauty. 

The garden of Achabal is quite famous all over because of an ancient spring that is surrounded by a terrace garden which was developed by Mughals. This Garden was rebuilt and developed by Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji as a famous tourist destination for the public.  Tourists come here every year in large numbers from different parts of the country and abroad &  enjoy the scenic beauty of this splendid place with amazing natural beauty and pleasant climate.

Achabal Garden History : 

The historical background of the Achhabal garden goes back to an ancient time when Nilmat Puran mentions the very existence of a spring by the name of Achabal Nag at this site. But as per kalhans Rajtarangini, the Achabal Spring which in the Sanskrit language was called Aksavala was founded by Aksa, the son of King Nara II of the Gonandiya Dynasty As per the historians the site is located near the Himalayan Mountains and is firmly believed  to have been a sacred place for Hindus known as " Akkshavala" previously.

Achabal Garden the place of the princess is a small Mughal Garden that is located at the southern end of the Kashmir valley in the town of Achabal, of District Anantnag Kashmir, India. It is about 8 kilometers away from the District Headquarters Anantnag and around 60 kilometers from Srinagar city and it is one of the beautiful masterpiece beautifully created grades which has its own special allure and character. 

Transport facilities like buses, cabs, taxis, etc are easily available for the visitors and tourists round the clock from the District Headquarter Ananatng as well from the Srinagar city. This  beautiful tourist destination of Verinag  remain always occupied by domestic as well as foreign tourists because of its splendid beauty and historical importance as this being also the source of River Jehlum.

This year historical Achabal Spring dried up in the month of second week  Febuary 2025 for the first time in the History  but fortunately rejuvenated and has returned to its original form again in the third week of febuary 2024 as  It's revival is considered not less than a miracle because it is the life line of twenty adjoing villages who are completely dependent on the water of this natural amazing spring .

Achabal garden is quite amazing blessed with a lot of natural beauty and tremendous natural views that give a soothing touch to soul and spirit of visitors and travelers who visits Kashmir.

The visitors must necessarily visit this splendid tourist garden to enjoy its amazing natural weather and its scenic beauty as well spend some time in the lap of mother nature.
