How to Reach Sethan Village :
Sethan Village, a tranquil, restricted Buddhist hamlet located around 12–20 km from Manali, Himachal Pradesh, is best reached by private taxi from Manali town, taking roughly 45–60 minutes. Situated at an altitude of 2,700 meters, this offbeat destination is accessed via a narrow road from Prini village on the left bank of the Beas River. Because of its remote, offbeat nature and steep, rough terrain, hiring a local 4x4 taxi (around INR 1200–1500) is highly recommended over private cars, especially during snowy winter months when the road can be challenging. It is suggested that to begin your journey, you must first reach Manali, which is well-connected by bus from Delhi or Chandigarh. Thereafter from Manali, travel towards the Prini village check post. It is essential to note that Sethan is a restricted area, so you may need to register at the Prini check post. The winding uphill road from Prini offers stunning views of the Kullu Valley and the Serin rivulet.
The road passes through forests and eventually leads to this quiet, non-touristy village, known for its panoramic mountain views, igloo stays, and as a base for trekking to the Hamta Pass. It is due to given the steep nature of the road and limited public transport, it is not recommended to walk from the Prini check post, as it is a continuous uphill journey.
The best time to visit is during the summer for hiking or winter for skiing, as the area remains covered in snow for several months. Due to its location in a restricted area, it is advisable to make advance bookings for accommodation, such as private campsites or guest houses. The closest airport is Kullu (Bhuntar), about 1.5 hours from Manali and the nearest train stations are Chandigarh or Kalka, about 8-10 hours from Manali
