India gained independence on August 15, 1947, but it wasn't until three years later that our Constitution was adopted. The Constituent Assembly, led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, drafted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950. This day marked the culmination of decades of struggle against colonial rule and the dawn of a new era – one where power rested with the people.
The road to Republic Day was paved with sacrifices and struggles. From the early days of the Indian National Congress to the non-cooperation movement led by Mahatma Gandhi, countless Indians fought for our rights and freedoms. The Salt Satyagraha, Quit India Movement, and countless other movements showcased the nation's resolve to be free .
The Constituent Assembly took nearly three years to draft the Constitution, ensuring it reflected the aspirations of a diverse nation. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's leadership and vision shaped the document, enshrining principles of justice, equality, and liberty.
Republic Day is a celebration of our democratic values and the power vested in our Constitution. It's a reminder of our responsibilities as citizens – to uphold the Constitution, protect our freedoms, and contribute to the nation's progress
