Beerwah is a Tourist Place & a small Town in District Budgam in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, India. It is also called the Land of Springs because it is blessed with seven big springs and Stunning natural beauty worth seeing. The word Beerwah is originally derived from the Sanskrit Word  " Behroop" which means land of Spring hence it is also called the land of Springs. Beerwah History  

The History of the stunning tourist place Beerwah goes back to ancient times and it was famous because a Fort namely Bhairam Hill was built there by Governor Lal Mohamad Khatak in the year 1766 which was later repaired in 1801 by Governor Abdullah khan. Unfortunately, this Fort got destroyed by an earthquake in 1984.

This historical place has also significant relevance because according to Kalhana, a famous writer and philosopher, Abhinav Gupta took Samadhi in a cave in the Bhairam Hills along with his disciple and they never returned as per reports.

Beerwah Occupation : 

The main occupation of the people here is agriculture and the main crops grown here are Apples, cherries vegetables, pears, walnuts, almonds, apricots, etc. The people also here deal in carpet and Shawal designing, knitwear trade, and do small business on embroidery works. The local people are quite nice, hospitable, and caring for visitors and travelers.

Beerwah Distance  : 

This stunning tourist town is about 28 kilometers away from Srinagar airport and the closest Railway Station to Beerwah is Mazhama 11 kilometers away from it. Tourists and travelers can easily board a bus, or hire a taxi or cab from Srinagar at affordable rates.

The distance from Srinagar to Beerwah via Bemina is 27 kilometers, 31 kilometers from Magam, 33 kilometers from Srinagar via Soibugh, and 35 kilometers via Budgam and takes more than half an hour. There is a big market in Beerwah Town where proper hotels, restaurants, etc are also available for night stays of tourists and visitors all time through out the year.

Pehjan is an alpine pasture situated about 25 kilometres from Khag meadow nestled in the lap of mighty Himalayas.The route of this beautiful place is from Khag to Gogaldara via Anzwaer. This serene place is quite amazing, scenic and pictusque. This delightful meadow is rich in Deodar covered with various kinds of asters and several plants of Saussuera Lappa (Kuth) and to reach this alpine pasture, Tourists and travelers have to cross the green slopes of Gogaldara, Donwar, Brari Pather, Anzwaer and Yanga Pather.
