Kousar Nag Location :
Kausar Nag lake is an ultimate beautiful lake situated at an altitude of about 3963 meters above the level of the sea in the Pirpanchal Range between the Reasi District Mahore belt & Aharbal Kulgam belt of Kashmir valley. The amazing and wonderful lake is about 5 kilometers long and about 3 kilometers wide and is considered the main source of the river River Veshav. The water of this splendid lake is blue and rippling which reflects the lofty snowy peaks surrounding the spring. The untapped pilgrim destination of Kousar Nag is blessed with a lot of natural beauty that can be developed into an eco-friendly tourist place. This high-altitude oligotrophic lake got its name from the Nagavanshi King of the same name Kausar Nag.

The Historical and religious background of this charming Konsar Nag lake goes back to the 6th century when in Nilmat Puran, Kousar Nag has been referred to as Kramasar. Krama means footsteps and Sar means lake which has been worshipped by Hindus as Vishnupad meaning the footsteps of Lord Vishnu. That is why this lake is also called Vishnupad.

Shephards are usually seen busy in their daily work like cattle grazing and collecting firewood for cooking etc. There are a lot of hotels, restaurants, a tourist reception center, etc easily available for the convenience of tourists and visitors on economic rates in Aharbal Town, the base camp of Konsar Nagar. There is also a big market in Aharbal from where necessary purchases of basic essential commodities can be made and tourists and travelers can buy essential commodities for onward journey to Konsar Nag as everything has to be carried along for this adventurous journey till return.
